Happy New Year. Sorry We Have to Head South So Soon. Bye!
Greetings from the outskirts of Jacksonville, Florida, on day three of our 2015 Further West Tour of Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and maybe more. Following our recent "tour-within-a-tour," or "tourette," model, during the New Mexico portion, we will spend five weeks on our second You're Getting To Be a Hobbit With Me tourette of New Zealand.
We would, once again, like to thank our truly excellent fans, sympathizers and hangers-on for allowing us to meet our $15,000 goal by way of our "Let's Put Hungrytown On the Map" crowd funding campaign. Making good on our promise to actually record an album in the brief period between October 7, 2014, the day we returned from our last tour, and this one, while still making a living, we actually recorded an album in the brief period between our last tour and this one, while still making a living. The recording is now being mastered and production will begin shortly thereafter. This has been a hectic, frustrating, glorious and action-packed time, and probably deserves its own set of statistics:
- Shows performed: 23
- Friends we got to hang out with for more than one hour: 7
- New songs written: 4
- Albums recorded: 1
- Crowd-funded cash raised to produce and promote aforementioned album: $15,263
- Electric percolators ruined: 1
- Photos with celebrities: 0
- New microphones purchased: 1 (Shure SM7B for those so inclined)
- Visits to our beloved Dam Diner: 7
- Number of new tires purchased for Blue Meanie: 4
- Number of days without telephone and/or internet service thanks to Fairpoint Communications: 85
- Domestic squabbles caused by stress plus Ken's snoring: 2,000
- Books read: Rebecca: 7; Ken: 0
Our 2015 Further West Tour photo album is still embarrassingly small. If you want something to do, please visit our 2014 More or Less at Home album, or get a puppy.
