Twenty Years Of Marriage--At Least A Few Of Them Spent In a 22-Foot Touring Van.  We Win, Like, a Prize, Right?

On April 23rd, 1994, we made it official at Riverside Chapel in New York.  The next day, we were off for two starry weeks in Paris, the slides from which will be scanned and posted after we get home from the remainder of our 2014 Further West Tour.  If you're the type that likes wedding pictures, we have two small albums for you.  As an aside, photos from our present travels are visible in Part 2 of our latest album.

Not surprisingly, after all this time under marital law, a few things happened.  Here are but a handful:

1993:  Just after we started dating, we took a three-week road trip to Vermont and Montreal.  Occurred to us that we didn't kill each other.
1994:  Honeymoon in Paris.  First married fight--something about picking a restaurant.
1995:  First anniversary, in Newport, Rhode Island.  Rebecca starts at City College of the City University of New York to finish her undergraduate degree.  Ken starts at Brooklyn Law School.
1996:  Bought 1995 bicycles on sale, which are currently strapped to the back of the Blue Meanie.
1997:  Just before dying of cancer, our mutual friend, Abigail Lavine, gives her guitar and two tickets to Hong Kong to Ken.  Ken gives the guitar to Rebecca.  Rebecca graduates from City College, summa cum laude, with a BA in English Literature.  Rebecca gives her first solo performance, at Cornelia Street Cafe in Greenwich Village.  We spend a bittersweet, but fabulous, two weeks in Hong Kong.
1998:  Bought a condo in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.  Ken buys his first microphone.  In the coming years, he will buy another one.
1999:  Rebecca Hall Sings! committed to a four-track cassette deck, with added tracks recorded at a friend's studio.  Ken graduates from law school.  Established the venerable, snooty and mysterious Listen Here Records!, Inc.
2000:  Ken finally passes the bar exam and promptly becomes a not lawyer.  We take our first trip to the United Kingdom together, just for fun.
2001:  Rebecca's first show in London, UK, with help from violinist Rachael Birkin and bassist Dan Green.  We sell the condo in Brooklyn, which pays for Ken's law school with enough left over for a tiny down payment on a tiny house in Vermont.  Ken begins dabbling with pro audio gear.  Work on Sunday Afternoon begins.
2002:  Sunday Afternoon finished.  Mini tour of England, this time with Peter Stuart Kohman on second guitar and Ken on bass.  First library show ever, in Randolph, New Jersey.  Bought this tiny house in West Townshend, Vermont, for weekends, mostly.
2003:  Quit our respective jobs.  Moved to this tiny house in West Townshend, Vermont.
2004:  First tour of the United Kingdom, under the snappy name of Rebecca Hall & Ken Anderson.  First time performing in the Netherlands.
2005:  Work on Hungrytown CD begins.  Design planning for the Blue Meanie begins.
2006:  Picked up Blue Meanie from Austin, Texas.
2007:  The photographic power duo of Gentl & Hyers, who took our wedding portraits, such as the one above, visit our neighborhood to take photos for Hungrytown.  Hungrytown CD finished.  For the sake of consistency, we changed our working name to Hungrytown, too.
2008:  Our neighbor, Vermont old-timer Gene Morrison, comes to us to record his first CD, Looking Back.  Tried digging out a garden in front of our house without realizing that the soil was made out of sand.
2009:  Rebecca's father builds a compost next to our house that we still don't know how to use.  First visit to our beloved La Paloma Hot Springs in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
2010:  Hungrytown's Facebook Page is hatched.  Work begins on Any Forgotten Thing. 
2011:  Any Forgotten Thing CD finished.  First time performing in Finland.  Ken's mother took us on a whilrwind tour of China and Japan, where we met his long-lost uncle and cousins in Hiroshima.
2012:  Our friends, Joni and Pia, who introduced us to the wonderful world of Finland, visit us to record their debut CD as Vellamo.
2013:  First forays into New Zealand, Norway, Germany and Denmark.  104 shows in eight countries--a new record, without actually making a new record.
2014:  Something truly amazing happens by the end of this year, we fantasize.
