2016 Was a Heck of A Year. How About We Don't Talk About It.
As you may know, January means we begin our annual Further West Tour, which involves a southern US road trip, and either a stint in California or New Zealand, within about four months. We wanted to see what would happen if, after touring through the American south, we parked the Blue Meanie in California, hopped a plane to New Zealand, hopped another plane to the United Kingdom, hopped yet another plane back to California, continued up the west coast and trundled back through the Rockies, Badlands and Midwest. Turns out it would take a little over six months and involve 70-something shows. Well, we're doin' it, which raises two important questions:
- What if the world is not round after all?
- Are you nuts?
The answer to both questions is yes. On the third hand, this means that we'll have more time at home for the second half of the year, doing more hub-and-spoke shows and fewer continent-crawling month guzzlers.
The Blue Meanie just had its plugs re-sparked, its springs re-leafed and its capacitors re-fluxed and is ready to hog some serious road. This month's menu has Hungrytown ordering up a main course of Flordia followed by east Texas with an intermezzo of Mississippi.
If you want to know when we'll be touring through your region so that you can hide in the basement or your sister's spare room accordingly, please click on our handy new Bandsintown button:
Our first Further West photo album is underway here. If you want to see our most recent photo albums, please help yourself to Home Turf, Part 2 and Home Turf, Part 1.
Feeling ambivalent about the new year and what it holds for you? Please visit Hungrytown.net or Facebook.com/hungrytown, and you'll notice that it probably holds a visit from us.
