Zephyrhills, Florida, Are You With Us?
This is the seventh, and final, Newsdumpster produced on our 2017 Further West-World Tour. The first was in January, so long ago that I could probably repeat its contents and you wouldn't even catch on. We wanted to see what would happen if, after touring through the American south, we parked the Blue Meanie in California, hopped a plane to New Zealand, hopped another plane to the United Kingdom, hopped yet another plane back to California, continued up the west coast and trundled back through the Rockies, Badlands and Midwest. Well, we missed the Badlands, but we made it to the Midwest--East Fork State Park in Ohio, to be precise.
Our most recent show was in lovely Xenia. As you may know, Hungrytown plays libraries the way Tommy plays pinball, so we were delighted to finally check the "X" box off our list of cities where we've done these shows. We've actually performed at libraries at all of these locations--we thought we were done with the alphabet:
Aberdeen, South Dakota
Blacksburg, South Carolina
Clinton, Mississippi
Delphi, Indiana
Eufaula, Alabama
Fort Stockton, Texas
Goshen, Connecticut
Islip, New York
Hawera, New Zealand
Johnson, Kansas
Kauhajoki, Finland
Løkken, Denmark
Mio, Michigan
New Castle, Colorado
Old Town, Maine
Plaistow, New Hampshire
Quechee, Vermont
Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Sweet Home, Oregon
Tromsø, Norway
Upton, Wyoming
Vinton, Iowa
Waukegan, Illinois
Xenia, Ohio
Yarmouth, Massachusetts
Z Nooooo!
Full disclosure: our only "Y" show was at a cultural center, not a library, so we're slightly cheating on that letter. And when we get to "Z," champagne will be spilled.
We are now powering through our eighth photo album doumenting our 2017 Further West-World Tour. Here they are, baby:
Southern US: Part 1, Part 2.
New Zealand: Part 3, Part 4.
United Kingdom, Part 5, Part 6.
Western US: Part 7.
Eastward forests, eastward hills: Part 8.
End Pieces.
We somehow managed to overlook this sterling review of Further West from last July, featured in New York Music Daily. Our favorite passage, and we're not biased: "Not only is this one of the best albums of 2015, it’s one of the best of the decade, if anybody’s counting." These are our people.
For not much more than the cost of a tiny house, you can get our small house 965 sq ft), set upon a lovely south-facing almost-acre on famous Windham Hill in southern Vermont. We're moving to a larger place a few doors down in September. Easy traveling distance from Boston and NYC and within a half-hour's drive to three major ski resorts. Several potential buyers are currently mulling it over--won't you join them? Please see our MLS listing.
Wondering where to go for summer vacation? Why not visit Hungrytown.net or Facebook.com/hungrytown and consider a trip to Hungrytown? On second thought, the Grand Canyon would probably be better.
