MAY-JUNE 2014 NEWSDUMPSTER

If We Start Talking About Making Our Next Record, We Hope it Will Make Us Do Something.

With respect to last month's 20th Anniversary Newsdumpster, we'd like to extend our sincere thanks to our many well wishers as well as to our many wishers without wishing wells.

We've been back in Vermont for just over a month; nonetheless, the Blue Meanie is already getting its coils rusticated for our first ever Northeast by Northwest Tour.  This seven-week jaunt will include our first ever forays into Michigan, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.  In predictable fashion, we will add yet another photo album to our unfashionably bloated photo album page.

Before we head out, however, we plan to begin recording our next album, or at least bring our instruments upstairs to the studio.  It's a daunting task, as our stairs are a bit steep.  Not only that, we find that beginning a new record is always fraught with problems.  Here are some of our favorites:

  • Bringing our instruments upstairs to the studio.
  • Getting off Facebook.
  • Don't tell me we need to change our strings.
  • Don't we need new material?
  • Brushing the bugs off the spit guard.
  • Making sure the Newsdumpster gets written.
  • Finally hitting the red button just as it's time to leave for our next tour.

You Ought to Hear This Show, And We're Not Biased.

Along our 2014 Further West Tour route, we were the proud and squealing guests of John Dillon and Viv Nesbitt , co-hosts of Art Of the Song, which is broadcast on over 150 National Public Radio stations.  The show is now available online, and you can listen here, if you're so inclined.  Art Of the Song is product of the Standing "0" Project, which helps connect fans and musicians, and we urge you to support it in a big way.
