JULY 2018

Let's Go Surfing! Just Kidding. Let's Go Sitting!

Okay, so we're barely into July and much of North America and northern Europe have been experiencing prolonged high temperatures that can only be described as hot. And while there are many problems associated with hotness, such as heat stroke, sunburn and Kanye, it can also be a force for good. Here some of the great activities made possible by the dog days of summer:

  • Ice cream
  • Regular ice
  • Swimming outdoors, if you can find water
  • Testing the SPF factor of your sunscreen lotion
  • Wearing your best chemise, drawers, corset, bustle, petticoats, frock coat, hat and bonnet. Hang on--I was thinking of Victorian summer attire.
  • Low heating bill
  • Fond memories of winter
  • Gardening--this has been a terrific year for our weeds, stinging nettles and poison ivy.
  • Staring at your screen. Hang on--I guess you can do that at other times, too.

What Do We Do as Soon as We Get Home? Make a Video Montage About Traveling.

Just for fun, we put our song, "Static," from our latest album, Further West, behind some old railroad footage. We think it works quite nicely: Static

Our 2018 Home Turf photo album has grown since the last time you saw it, which may be never. Furthermore, we did a mini-tour of the near South, which we called Carolina in My Van. Later in July, we'll begin the first of two Into the Cornfield tours of the Midwest. In fact, if you want to see photos from any of our multitudinous tours, please visit our Photo Albums page.

Susan: "Let's celebrate American Independence Day by going to Hungrytown.net and Facebook.com/hungrytown, and going to the barbeque and fireworks?"

Debbie: "Traitor!"

Susan: "Okay. How about just the barbeque and fireworks?"
