AUGUST 2018

Despite its Relatively Small Size, Maine Has a Bigger Lobster Industry Than the Midwest.

Last month, we were so excited about being home that we barely said anyting about our next tour, which started just over a week ago. Of course, it's our six-week, 2018 Into the Cornfield Tour of the Midwest and Maine. Why these two regions? Well, the parallels we found between them are nothing short of perpendicular:

  • They are the only states that begin with the letter M, except for Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi and Montana. And the Midwest isn't a state at all, but a massive region (750,536.3 sq mi/1,943,880.1 km2) emcompassing 12 states, including Minnesota and Missouri. Maine, on the other hand, is relatively a puny 71,992 sq mi/186,458 km2, but still the largest New England state by far.
  • Both are in the United States.
  • Even though Maine has a long coast along the Atlantic Ocean, most of it is inland. The Midwest is kind of the same way, but with Great Lakes.
  • Both are next to Canada.
  • Both Maine and the Midwest have 1.3 million people. Except that the Midwest has 64 million extra ones, just in case.
  • The letters M-A-I-N-E can be also found in Minnesota, but without hyphens.

Not surprisingly, our 2018 Into the Cornfield photo album is well underway. Much like Apple, our 2018 Home Turf photo album has grown even bigger, though its market value is still less than zero.

Mother: "Everything that's on the internet, dear. You can't trust anyone anymore."
Emma: "But Billy says that you can trust Hungrytown.net and Facebook.com/hungrytown all the time!
Mother: "How would you like it if Billy goes to live with daddy?
