Saguaros Can Showcase With More Than Two Arms. But You Already Knew That.
Welcome to the last full month of our 2018 Further West Tour, which began in December. March brings us to this year's furthest point west, namely, Arizona. As you may know, Arizona is the main US repository of the great saguaro cactus, made famous in countless western movies and cartoons. They have been an inspiration to us, as we have always tried to emulate the enthusiasm and joie de vivre that these great plants appear to, but do not really, exude.
People have asked us about our peculiar habit of raising our arms in many of our photos. It's called showcasing and we do it for the following reasons:
It mimics the noble saguaro cactus, sort of.
It promotes good posture.
It draws the eye upwards, away from Ken's receding chin.
Gives us something to do with at least one of our arms.
In Japan, you throw up your arms and shout "Banzai!" as a celebratory expression. in order to put his shirt on, Ken's mom used to trick him into doing this until he was 21.
If other people are between us, it makes them look more important, sort of.
After our show in Arizona, we do several more in New Mexico, including two at our beloved La Paloma Hot Springs & Spa, where we will also spend more than a glorious week before powering our way back to Vermont, with several more shows along the way.
Part 1 and Part 2 of our 2018 Further West Tour are now full to burstin'. Part 3 is now underway and promises to be much like the other two.
