OCTOBER 2026 NEWSDUMPSTER

What Time Is It? Don't Ask Us.

There was a time when you could set your watch by the frequency of the Newsdumpster. Sadly, digital technology has eclipsed the accuracy of Newsdumpster postings, rendering its timekeeping function nearly obsolete.

At least that's what we tell ourselves for being too slack to keep you posted on Hungrytown happenings every month. If you follow our Facebook page, however, you'll know that we've been dutifully touring the US, UK and bits of Europe, which we love, and taking zillions of photos to prove it.

Our most recent album, Circus for Sale, continues to be a popular favorite among those who like popular favorites.

Tired of Wiping Your Feet?

Last Halloween, our gurus at Big Stir Records, purveyors of Circus for Sale, released Chilling, Thrilling Hooks And Haunted Harmonies: The Big Stir Records Halloween Grimoire, featuring 41 Big Stir artists contributing their eeriest, creakiest and downright Halloweeniest songs for this collection.

Our comrades in creepiness included the Corner Laughers, the Armoires, Graham Parker, the Jack Rubies, Blake Jones & The Trike Shop, Dolph Chaney and Strawberry Alarm Clock. We offered up our bespoke "Footprints," available everywhere, including Spotify and our disturbing video montage.

Better yet, it's available direct from Big Stir Records' haunted online store.

Why are you doing this?
Doing what?

This weird Q&A thing, out of nowhere.
Who are you? Leave me alone!

It's been months without a Newsdumpster, and then you just reappear without an explanation?
I did explain, kind of. It's mostly the inertia of inaction. I'm not crazy about this newsletter platform either. But at least it makes horizontal lines.

Is It Carnival Time Yet?

During the final stages of recording Circus for Sale, Ken was also secretly producing Across a Carnival, the first solo album by singer/songwriter of mystery, Chris Clark. Chris has been our friend and neighbor since our earliest days in Vermont; his roots are so firmly planted that he needs a reciprocating saw just to leave the house.

Most of the same antiquated production methods used in Circus for Sale also went into creating Across a Carnival, including duet and harmony vocals by our own Rebecca, and multi-instrumental and vocal thingamajoobers by our own Ken.

We love Chris's songs and sensibilities, reflecting equal parts Americana, folk and rock, with a generous spackling of psychedelia to hold it together. And we're honored to have it on our own venerable Listen Here! Records label.

Across a Carnival was released in August, preceded by the video for "I Suppose," which captures the album's mood and spirit. Visit Chris Clark at his website and Like his Facebook page. Listen to Across a Carnival on Bandcamp, Spotify or your favorite platform. And watch "I Suppose" here. If you want a CD copy of Across a Carnival, send an email to chris@chrisclarkband.net.

Dick: Gee, I almost forgot how much I enjoyed reading Hungrytown's Newsdumpster!
Nick: You never enjoyed reading the Newsdumpster. You don't even like Hungrytown!
Dick: Gee, I guess more time went by than I thought!
