Folk Talk #103--80 Plays Around the World radio interview hosted by Rik Palieri

In this interview we joined host Rik Palieri, Geraldine Auerbach (from the Bert Jansch Foundation), and fellow musical contributors Gareth Hedges and David Nigel Lloyd to talk about Around the World in 80 Plays, for Bert Jansch.  In this project, musicians around the globe are saluting the legendary guitarist and singer song-writer by contributing a Song for Bert.  Special guitars are traveling across continents from artist to artist, enabling them to connect with the man and his music.

Rik plays some of Bert’s own recordings as well as mentioning or playing bits from several people on the journey including Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Thompson, Hungrytown, Liz McBride, Katie Spencer and David Nigel Lloyd. Geraldine Auberbach, from the The Bert Jansch Foundation, provides background information about the origins of the 80 Plays project. We all expressed our joy that this imaginative project clearly shows how Bert’s music and his spirit still connect so strongly with young guitar players and singer-songwriters today.

Hungrytown was honored to be nominated for this project, and we contributed our cover of Bert's song "Morning Brings Peace of Mind."  We enjoyed performing this song so much that we decided to include it on our soon-to-be-released album, and listeners can hear it first on this archived radio broadcast!
