January 2018 Newsdumpster

JANUARY 2018

An Extra Five Minutes at Home Would Be Nice, Too.

Except for touring the US, UK and New Zealand for six-and-a-half months, putting over 25,000 new miles (40,000 km) on the Blue Meanie, buying our dream house, political upheaval, starting an Airbnb, setting up a new recording studio, starting our 2018 Further West Tour a month early in December and a zillion other things, nothing much happened in 2017. Nonetheless, hope springs eternal that this will be a better year for all of us. Here are a few things we want from 2018:

  • an extended visit to Hope Springs
  • time to record something
  • new tires
  • jackets with enough pockets to hold a banjo, mandolin and two guitars
  • learn people better (stolen from Woody Guthrie)
  • more celebrity gossip. Just kidding.
  • less poverty and despair in the world
  • a cat
  • that all of us are here this time next year

Yes, We're Feeling Guilty, But We'll Get Over It.

As stated previously, our 2018 tour began in early December, making 2017 the first year to embrace two Further West tours. As you may have guessed from the photo, we're in Florida, and far from our northeastern friends and neighbors who are currently experiencing a brutally cold winter. It's also cold here by local standards, and if it makes you feel any better, it's cloudy today and socks may need to be worn.

Our 2018 Further West Tour will remain in Florida until the end of this month, and then begin heading, you know, with shows in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arizona, and hot-springs time in New Mexico.

Logo à Go-Go.

The talent behind our new, improved Newsdumpster graphic is none other than Greg Gutbezahl of Studo 680, who, it turns out, did the superb artwork, booklet and layout for Further West.

The first photo album of this tour is here, more to follow:Part One.

We hope you had a terrific holiday season and wish you and yours only good things for 2018 and beyond.

Love,

Rebecca and Ken
