That Ladder Looks Awfully Tall.
Since getting back to Vermont in April from our four-month 2016 Further West Tour, we've hung out at the farmers' market, bought a new car, got new tires and suspension stuff for the Blue Meanie, watched TV, played some northeastern shows, ate a ton of oranges, saw some people, updated a few electronic gadgets and Rebecca took yoga. All of a sudden it's July, and we're stressing out about our imminent combination four-month combo 2016 Into the Cornfield Tour of the midwest, which will dovetail into our 2016 Double-Crossing the Pond Tour of the British Isles.
When we started touring full time in 2004, we had already squandered our youth skidding down a bunch of dead-end roads. As totally middle-aged folk musicians, we've noticed that our demographic likes to make lists about the nuances of aging. Not wanting to be left out of the fun, here's ours:
- Making sure our vitamin supplements are either chocolate or gummy.
- Inserting the hair trap before bathing brings on a twinge of melancholy.
- Downloading music is the latest thing, right?
- 401(k) is a brand of window cleaner, right?
- Keogh is a brand of cereal, right?
- Showcasing helps to elongate your torso, pulls in your stomach and directs the viewers' eye upward. Distance helps, too (see photo).
- Becoming jealous of people with senior discounts.
- Grateful that library shows nearly always end before 9:00 p.m.
